FUNCTIONS & PARTIES

Little Black Pig & Sons is available for private functions. Catering for a maximum of 44 people, we can cater to all types of parties or wine lunches/dinners.

Please contact the restaurant for further information on 03 9459 9114, or via our online form.

For groups larger than 8 people we suggest a sharing chef-selected menu, allowing you to experience more of the menu and enjoy your evening in a relaxed environment. We can cater for all kinds of functions and parties, from birthday celebrations to engagement parties, christenings and wedding parties.

Our philosophy is that no guest shall leave our venue hungry, so rest assured there will be enough food for all of you on your special occasion.

Our set menu will mirror dishes found on the menu at the time of your event - what is in season in the great state of Victoria and around Melbourne. You and your guests will experience the inspiring tastes of modernist cooking techniques and the very best of locally sourced, foraged and home grown ingredients. 

All of our dishes are cooked to order, so any dietary requirements for you or your guests can be catered for. Please advise us of any dietary requirements when placing your booking to ensure that we can accommodate.

Seafood dinner

at LITTLE BLACK PIG & SONS

 

We are hosting a Seafood Dinner with Ash Brothers Seafood, family owned Melbourne based wholesale seafood supplier since 1959.

This will be a 6 course dinner with matching wines. George Christou, second generation Ash Bros, will present each course and explain the origins of each sea creature and the method used to catch it, from line fishing to sustainable farming.

The wines will be curated by Vince Pignatelli, Managing Director of Winestock Victoria. First established in 1993 as Nelson Wine Co. & Prime Wines, Winestock Victoria stocks a variety of progressive wineries using different wine styles and grape varietals. Vince will present each wine and explain the philosophy behind each winery, the aroma & palate of each wine, and it's reason for pairing.

The night will include deep fried harissa Mooloolaba prawns, smoked salmon caviar, oyster cream and scampi caviar, bacala, scallops, prawn tartare, nduja sausage, Moreton Bay bugs, lobster, blue swimmer crab, prawn head bisque (all based on availability), and finishing with a chocolate and chestnut dessert.

WINE MATCHING DINNER

at LITTLE BLACK PIG & SONS

 

Experience a 5 course dinner with matching wines, with wines curated by Thomas Robertson, Victorian Imports Leader of Negociants Australia. Negociants was established in Australia in 1984 and represents family-owned wineries producing the finest wines from around the world.

We will start with truffle cream with poached egg, oscietra caviar and wagyu beef, followed by truffle and quail agnolotti. Nduja will also feature with Robe octopus twice-cooked and chickpeas. Wagyu beef and parsnip purée will conclude your main courses, and you'll be finishing the evening with a delicious cheese platter.

Wines will include Riva del Frati Prosecco, Prunotto Arneis, Pala Stelleto Vermentino, Paolo Scavino Langhe Nebbiolo, Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre and Marchese Antinori Vin Santo.

We are proud to host local families and their mothers for Mother’s Day Lunch 2019.

Enjoy our chef-selected sharing menu. This is a wonderful way to try more of the menu and enjoy your afternoon with a large selection of food that everyone will love.

The concept of the chef-selected sharing menu is similar to an Italian family meal. You will receive antipasti, followed by pastas, followed by main meals and desserts. The meals are shared amongst the table like your Nonna would do, where everyone helps themselves and enjoys a slow meal together as a family. We can't tell you exactly what will be on your chef-selected sharing menu as the menu changes each week, but you can get an idea of the dishes that will be served here.

Your chef-selected sharing menu is a 4 course meal, and will include:

3 selections of antipasti

2 selections of pasta

3 selections of mains

2 selections of sides

desserts

Join Ash Bros Seafood as they present the best seafood our beautiful coastal towns have to offer, cooked in traditional Italian style at Little Black Pig & Sons.  Wrap your tentacles around a detailed account of the origin of your meal from Ash Bros Seafood, one of Melbourne's oldest and most experienced seafood suppliers, first established in 1959.  Each course will be matched with wines.

Ash Bros uses fishing techniques such as hand lines, small pots and individual traps. They supply every kind of seasonal, sustainable sea creature you can imagine, including fresh water black eels, Geraldton kingfish, hapuka, sashimi grade (which means the fish is the highest quality available, and approved to eat raw), Clarence River jumbo king prawns,  Southern Calamari ( Καλαμάρι ), Port Lincoln calamari, king george whiting, Portland king dory, and pallidus octopus.

Take a food and wine journey through Italy with Winemaker Ashleigh Seymour from one of Tuscany’s flagship wine producers, Avignonesi Winery. 


Avignonesi respects the heritage of Montepulciano, where Sangiovese wines have been produced for centuries. Their wines express the true character of the Montepulciano terroir and are made with organic and biodynamic farming methods. 


The wines will be matched with a special produce-driven, chef-selected Italian menu from Little Black Pig & Sons.

CHEF'S TABLE

Experience the wonder of professional cooking. Sit at a shared table and watch your food being prepared. Interact with head chef David Lakhi as he talks you through the preparation of a selection of dishes, prepared with the best of local, foraged and home grown ingredients.

This event is open to a small number of guests once a month on a Tuesday or Thursday evening. The date of each month's Chef's Table will be revealed in the last week of the month prior. 

You can rest assured that you will not go home hungry, with each guest receiving a selection of antipasti, pastas, mains and desserts, as selected by David. Please ensure you specify any dietary requirements when booking so that we can accommodate.

Our Guest Chef dinners are community-based events where you and your guests will mingle with other parties, enjoy canapes and Prosecco on arrival, and a five course meal with matching wines. Our Guest Chef of the evening will collaborate with David Lakhi of Little Black Pig & Sons to bring you a wonderfully exciting menu with new dishes and unusual flavours to make an extravagant, yet private evening.
